A good beginning is half the job. - Slovak Proverb
It’s no surprise that someone who began her career as an English teacher and native-speaker-for-hire in Bratislava, Slovakia, describes herself as curious about people’s journeys. Amy Wicks’ unique journey started in Montana and led her across Eastern Europe and eventually to Boston, where she is excited to build efficient and organized processes in her role as Senior Content Strategist for Mad*Pow.
With her good work already spanning continents, Amy’s goal is “to help companies that do good in the world communicate with their customers, employees, and supporters by making sure their content is clear, usable and suited to the audience.”
A passionate and driven problem solver, Amy has used her master’s degree in Integrated Marketing Communications from Emerson College to support Liberty Mutual Insurance and City Mission Society. Most recently, she worked as part of Massachusetts General Hospital’s marketing team, helping them launch and host a podcast. “Over the course of four years, I watched my in-house clients transform from teams that were completely attached to old ways to teams that were pushing to do more in the digital space.”
Amy enjoys a good round of copy editing with a particular penchant for grammar. When she’s not debating the Oxford comma and other hotly contested grammar rules, she spends her time outdoors or expanding her palate with exciting culinary adventures.
